If you don't have sound try this: 1. Refresh and / or reinstall your sound drivers 2. Toggle sound on and off in game 3. Click the cog icon at the top right of the client and toggle sound on and off (end with sound:on) Should work now assuming that you don't have Naruto Online muted in your sound mixer settings for your computer.

I would try an older version of the client if you're having connection issues. 2.3 and 2.4 tend to be more stable if black screening. However, they do not handle animations as well.
