Well i was wondering why i cant go first? My fire main is in 4th same with his sage naruto but still he cast mystery faster than me. I have 4 of lvl5 refines on me and that's 165, he has only 5 of 125 so i dont understand why he cast faster than me? For purifying i got higher init too. Can someone explain this to me?

you sure his sage naruto in 4th position? Dont see many people doing that. If he's a friend, ask him to tell you his total initiation from the character page just to verify instead of manually summing up.

His Sage Naruto will always go first because he is in Position 1 and your Main is in position 2, regardless of initiative.

the position isn't determined by where is his located, you can read the number on top of those ninjas..1st position..2nd position..3rd position etc.

and yes in this case, your main is 2nd post..and his sage is 1st post ^^

Does positioning matter when we compare both move 1s? So in the example above, assuming equal initiative will hinata always move before sage naruto?

Yup hinata will move 1st since she is in move 1 and 1st position

When does initiative come into play? Only when they are in the same position and move number? Or can initiative overcome positioning somewhat as long as same move number?

Move number out prioritizes initiative. Initiative comes into play when both move 1's cast jutsu at the same time, that way the higher initiative ninja will go first.

Then does that mean positioning on the 9 spaces has no effect? Only move number and initiative?

for who moves first, no it have no effect (ofc, you can't possibly have a higher move number than the one in position 1 or lower than 9, but that's beside the point)

positions are more for correct body blocking and clone placements.

Try looking at it this way:
7 4 1
8 5 2
9 6 3

If you put you ninja on #2 it will become the Move 1 ninja and the #1 space will be bypassed.
