Well, this is a first. Look, I have a sinking feeling there's been some huge miscommunication here. Let me, once again, outline why I'm still confused. No "flavor text", no bullsh!t, no sarcasm. Everything I say below here is completely serious, just in case you needed that affirmation. Time to recap the chain of events one more time. Help me understand why you got so angry so quickly because I honestly can't tell. 1: Post #151. Tobin tries to make a joke about "ad hominem". The definition of ad hominem is when you make an argument that attacks the person you are debating with, instead of the argument. I saw people insulting each other and being toxic for really no reason, and this was me trying to say "y'all tone it down". 2: Post #155. Tobin explicitly states that it was meant to be a joke, and that he agrees that plants exist and that plants are a sc.mmy business practice. Tobin then makes a joke about masochism because he felt like the topic was too serious. 3: Post #156. RirukoHanaoka says "no, plants exist" in response. I agree, it's friggin' disgusting that plants exist, but I said in the post above that I believed in plants, so why did you say this? This is the start of my confusion. 4: Post #157. Tobin makes a joke at the expense of Riruko. Tobin then says "I don't understand why you talked about plants, it has nothing to do with my post. Is it because you don't know what ad hominem is?" 5: Post #158. Riruko gets upset at Tobin, insults him directly by calling him subhuman mongrel. Riruko then says again, "yes, plants exist", before talking about Tobei and Daiske. I still don't understand how Riruko has the impression that I don't believe in plants. I know they exist, and the fact that he keeps bringing them up is making me confused. Alright. From my perspective, the joke I made about reading is the only time in which I said something that could have insulted you. I say this because, again, I really don't understand why you are mad at me to this intensity. It couldn't have just been this small joke. There must be something else that I can't see, and if you could tell me what I did to make you upset at this time – and Quote what I said – it would help clear things up on my perspective. So, the question remains. Was my one joke about him the reason he got so mad? Or is there something else that I did to make him mad, that I'm completely missing here? Sorry for derailing the topic, but I genuinely want to know so I can gauge how this escalated and avoid scenarios like this in the future. If anyone can try to explain what the hell is going on, feel free to do so because I just have no idea what's going on anymore.

Aaaaawww shiiiiiiit, here we go again... I guess it's time for a Tobin AMA, let's get right into the nitty gritty of this one. #1: "Shut up Tobin, you're not funny." I see you're not a fan of my attempts at mediocre comedy. Well, that's alright. You can't win them all I guess, if you wanna see a better comedian google like, Jon Lajoie or something like that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ What I DON'T see is what that has to do with the topic at hand. "Explaining the joke" is a routine, it really doesn't mean anything and it's just there to set up. You saw the post I made in general before it was deleted – you cannot in good faith tell me that the impression you got from the Hi-chew tangents and the dumb cyclical logic that a joke like that made you feel like a "poor, dull moron". Neither did it paint me in the *l-knowing "infinite wisdom" kind of light. I mean, I don't like serious talk as much as the next guy. Ofc I'm gonna try and lighten things up with a few dumb quips. When I say what I say, it's obviously not meant to be like, "flaunting superiority" or some synonym of that. People around here take things so seriously, I thought maybe they could use a bit of lightness. I dunno man, I'm just Tobin. I'm honored that you're that interested in my thought process, well who am I not to oblige you? I wanted to gloss over this and end with a "Shut up, Tobin" joke but I guess that opportunity is passed and gone now. Here's the thing. I am still very confused as to what I did to provoke him. I made the ad hominem joke, someone replied, I said "I agree but you'd be more persuasive if you weren't insulting people" along with a few k!nk jokes. Guy comes around saying "plants exist" as if I'm disagreeing to what he's saying and don't believe the existence of plants, even though I directly specified in my previous post that I agreed. I tried to make a joke off of that, expressed my sheer absolute confusion as to what the hell was going on, and tried to spin that back on topic like some kid in CoD doing a tactical roll, and then my response of "what are you talking about, I'm confused" got the response "Yes plants exist, they obviously do you fricking smartass shut up and speak to me like an equal instead of hiding behind sarcasm". I DID. Even after I made the reading joke I explicitly stated I was confused as hell as to why he brought that up. What do plants have to do with ad hominem, and why does he think I don't believe in them? I know my perspective as a Tobin giver is different from that of a Tobin recipient. There MUST be something I'm misunderstanding here, but literally the only thing I can think of that flipped his switch was the "you can't read" jab but I honestly don't see why that would spark him to a level of his intensity. It was literally one joke and I find it hard to believe that a * joke like that enacted that amount of rage from him. From my point of view, I stepped on a land mine without ever knowing I was in a minefield at all. His aggression felt spontaneous and unprecedented, leaving me even more confused. Reflecting on it now I get the feeling from his mannerisms that he might not be a native English speaker and as such a lot of the things I was trying to frame as jokes might've come across as insulting, but I still am completely in the dark as to why he's upset and I still don't know WHICH of what I said led to this response. With all that said and done. I'll acknowledge that you have a point. Did I handle the situation in an optimal way? No, the ball's in my court as well. But trust me, the main intention behind 55-60% of what I say is to make someone reading this snicker. Either that or provide some kind of commentary, i:e the ad hominem thing. #2: "No U. Why are you bothered? Who cares?" While I appreciate the judgment, "bothered" is too strong a word. I guess "curious" would be more accurate. You underestimate the power of apathy good sir. I c*ready see you asking me where the "apathy" is in such a long winded response like this. See, like I said before, I like to talk. Probably... no, definitely, I like to talk more than I should. If I'm responding on here, it's not necessarily because I'm incredibly "bothered" – I just want to talk, that's really it. It's fun to interact with people, though maybe that's just the quarantine finally getting to me lmao. I was admittedly a little curious as to what gears are spinning behind Danzo's thought process though. #3: "You sure talk the talk buddy, but you don't walk the walk" We're in the center of this overdone meat loaf, and I'm about to lather it down with my "special" ketchup... "Did you at least stop paying as to not encourage the company anymore? Oh, wait. It is hard to stop when you didn't spend a dime on this game in the first place." And that's the problem. I'm not gonna pay for a game like this which, while a good game, is brought down by bad devs. What do you want me to do? Start whaling for a month just to drop my support? Look into becoming a GL or a mod, which would require oodles of time that I honestly can't spare right now? Over something that, at the end of the day, I can't say truly "bothers" me, and that I do primarily so I can interact with people? Call me half@ssed, call me whatever, I get where you're coming from, honestly, and it's an understandable sentiment. But if you're gonna pull me down, at the very least you could do is offer me another avenue to start up again. And that's just the thing. There isn't one. There's not much else that I can really do. It's gotten to the point where, like I said with Danzo, I'm pushing for change even when I don't expect any actual change. Even I become a GL, I'll just be paid to talk good about the game or fired. I'm gonna make do with what I can manage for now. I know there are people who have done tons more than me. I read the manifesto. I was there on [omitted]'s stream when Daiske went onto there and [omitted] (mods I'm sorry I alluded to he who must not be named, please don't delete my post I'm just trying to prove my point). I participated in the polls they had, I voted "no" for cross-server sage during the survey that they ignored. It may be "hardly counts" but it's better than "doesn't count", and if it can be used to enact change then I'm all for it nonetheless. Gatekeeping this kind of thing just doesn't make sense. I'm appreciative of what the guys like Tobei did, but I don't think that they should set the scale as to what "actually counts as trying". They went above and beyond and were mainly able to do so thanks to the positions they had, which I lack. You can ask me to walk the walk as much as you want, but it's kinda hard to get up and walk when everyone is tied to a chair except for the mods. P.S. The fact that I was there during the VoldemArt incident should tell you enough about whether "2 months ago" truthfully reflects how much time I've been here. #4: "Complaining is bad, why do you want people to complain?" Complaining shows that the community is dissatisfied with the game. Are you satisfied with the game? Do you think it's flawless and perfect, and you could never ask for anything more? Ever? Could you spend hours, days, years on this game without ever growing bored, angry, or even slightly disappointed? I'd rather hear voices of complaint pushing for change than complete adherence to a sh!tty system. If everyone was happy with how this game was being handled, and there was nobody complaining? That would genuinely scare me because it tells me the community has grown complacent and are okay with just being treated poorly. If you've been so desensitized to being treated badly that you... not just refuse to even bat an eye, but actively taunt people that their attempts to make things better aren't working, then I dunno what to tell ya bro. I can understand your perspective here, especially since you're not directly involved with the complaints in question. I can understand getting annoyed with them – but I still cannot understand your adversity towards positive change. Simple logic dictates that good change is good, and staying in bad conditions is bad. #5: "No U, YOU'RE the true masochist." Says the broken abused girlfriend who can't even face the facts and admit her polygamous boyfriend is abusive. But if that's your kink to be a total doormat and complacent about the same bad treatment every week up until the game closes, I have nothing to say to that either. Dumb quips aside. Again, I'd honestly agree with you more if our current conditions were better. I've played games where the devs gave out all sorts of actually GOOD free stuff on a regular and consistent basis. People still complained there and wanted more – and I had the same stance towards them as you have towards me. The difference is that the devs there actually treated their players well. This one only treats the players' wallets well. @Bogotor, I guess some people, like Thibbs, are just happier believing a lie... If it makes them happy, why should we stop them and take their fantasy world away from them?

tfw you have nothing else to say, so you resort to personal attacks that are completely unrelated to the topic again, therefore falling once more into the ad hominem pitfall... in a conversation where I was trying to warn you about not falling into the ad hominem pitfall Man, this guy be like: Irony can be so cruel. @Danzo, wasn't the whole reason people started calling you a GL because you consistently show up on these threads and always say "what did you expect? I told you so!" I mean, I find it fun to engage with these people but... why respond at all when it doesn't matter? Honestly, I'm fine if people are angry. That's on them, and that doesn't affect my gameplay experience. If they're toxic, like Mr. Shut Up Tobin here, I might poke my head in for sh!ts n' giggles and try to poke them in a better direction, but that's more because of my general policy on toxicity and because I like to talk more than I should, rather than something specifically from Oasis or this game. I guess it was too much to ask for him to google the definition of ad hominem... maybe I'm asking too much of people? Who knows man. Anyways, in my opinion it's at least somewhat on you as well for responding to them in the first place – or at the very least you can help make this environment less "childish" as you put it, from your end too.

Hey guys, Tobripsha here to explain the joke. So basically, Danzo has existed since the beginning of time and therefore has heard so many repetitive complaints he's starting to get cranky about it like Ebenezer Scrooge. real talk, why do you care if people complain, it affects your game experience by a whopping, enormous 0% except for when Oasis implements only the complaints that benefits them. When I make complaints, I make them without the expectation of actual progress being made as a result - but that's not going to stop me from trying to push for this game to improve. It takes zero to minimal effort to speak up and ask for positive change, it's literally just typing a few words on a screen. Worst case scenario, it doesn't do anything and you lose 5 minutes of your life. Who cares?
