Yes they buffed Poisons damage with the 2.0 update I reckon normal kankuro will work just as well as GNW kankuro worked before. GNW kankuro was Novembers free month ninja so I expect most people have him though.

[Events] Great Ninja War and Rankings (S99, S101 and S103)

Don't be so sad you were on server 99 before and it was always this way. The merged actually helped with competition before the top 2 groups Excalibur and TheKages were 800,000 power apart now the top 2 group is Eclipse with only a 200,000 power difference. Now lets say each good player on your server is about 40k power that's only 5 ninjas that Eclipse needs to tie up the Kages, before EXCALIBUR needed 20 high power players. You seem to say that the game is less equal but its actually much better than before.
