Sheilds are going out of fashion because of Madara Uciha [five kage summit]. as you all know he has Han's ability to remove all buffs and sheilds as well as Kisame Hoshigaki [samehada fusion mode]'s ability to remove all barriers. So if you run a team based on sheilds and buffs now a days, then you have a good chance of getting destroyed (this is maybe only the case for servers with a lot of strong people that spend money on the game). If this change hasn't happened to your server yet, then you can expect it in the future.
