Summary: A continuing story of the 5 Naruto Online Mains in a slightly different universe than the actual Naruto. After the 4 weeks of rest, finals have finally begun.
Chapter Note: I just realized I made Breeze’s name Breeze Namikaze. This sounds weird….(But then again, having “Dancer” as last name is weird too O_O)
Final Exam (1): Matching
The crowd settled in as the final exams were about to start. 6 Genins that had passed the stage 2 exam showed themselves down on the battlefield, standing before the large crowd with Shikamaru. Minato slowly raised himself from the Hokage chamber, speaking into a mic that spread his voice throughout the colosseum.
"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming to Hidden Leaf Village’s Chunin Selection Exam today. We will now begin the main matches with the 6 Genins that have passes the previous stages.” Minato took out a folded paper from his pocket, unfolding it to see the contents.
“First round, we have Scarlet Blaze versus Sai, Azure Fang versus Midnight Blade, and lastly Crimson Fist versus Breeze Namikaze."
The crowd cheered on at the Genins as Shikamaru scratched the back of his head. He spoke to the Genins lined up in front of him. “Round one will consist of 3 fights. One of the winners will directly head off to round 3, while two of the winners will fight again at round 2 to enter round 3. The battles will continue until one side has given up or died, or I decide that it’s over. The only rule is that...there are no rules."
Shikamaru raised his tone, loud enough for the crowd to hear this time. “Scarlet Blaze versus Sai.” As the crowd cheered on hearing the names, Shikamaru turned towards the Genins, waving the rest of them away. “The rest of you can go back to the waiting rooms or watch the match.”
Midnight headed up without even looking. Breeze looked at Scarlet and Sai nervously before turning her head and following Midnight. Crimson turned towards Scarlet with Azure, waving as they headed back. “We’re rootin for ya.”
After they had left, Shikamaru waited for the crowd to settle down. Scarlet stared at Sai’s eyes as Sai gave back a bright smile, which Scarlet found strangely irritating. Shikamaru raised his hand as a waiting signal, and seconds after the silence, he sliced the air as he spoke, vanishing from the scene to avoid interference. “…Begin.”
Final Exam (2): A Cruel Artist
Scarlet took out a kunai attached with an explosive tag, spinning it around by his waist before releasing it towards Sai. The explosion created a mass of smoke that blurred their vision.
Scarlet quickly formed his hand signs in the confusion, much faster than normal - he had used this jutsu thousands of times since little as his clan specialized in Genjutsu.
Soon, 2 white lions seemingly straight out from a drawing jumped out of the smoke, launching themselves at Scarlet. However, the lions passed through Scarlet harmlessly as if they went through nothing. Scarlet smiled as dozens of other Scarlets shimmered into view, all identical in looks.
The smoke around Sai cleared as he looked at his 2 lions, attacking at the images as they stumbled around to find the real one. Before they could find the real Scarlet, the images of Scarlet formed their hand signs in unison. “Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu!”
The Scarlets all launched a mass of fire that burned away at the ink drawings. Sai knew only one of them was the actual flame and others were fake jutsu images as Sai quickly made a hand sign, attempting to free himself from the Genjutsu. “…Release.”
The images disappeared as only one Scarlet remained. Sai redrew his pair of lions, pointing at Scarlet as they materialized. “Choujuu Giga!”
The lion pair launched themselves at Scarlet that Sai had pointed at, crashing down with physical contact. The lions locked down Scarlet’s body and arms, keeping him from doing anything as Sai walked closer. Scarlet struggled to break free, but to no avail; Sai smiled as he reached for his blade.
Sai drew his short sword from his back, shifting the grip. “Let’s see how you do without your jutsus.”
He plunged it down at Scarlet’s right arm, stabbing through; then he slashed downwards, cutting off Scarlet’s arm completely. The crowd started going wild as Sai stood back up, backing away along with his lions. Scarlet struggled to get up, bleeding heavily from the cut off arm as he panted.
Scarlet smiled wryly as he barely spoke, tiring rapidly from the bleeding. “…You’re...not a Genin...are you? Who are you?” Sai’s expression remained still as he responded just loud enough for Scarlet to hear. “I’m nobody. I don’t exist.”
With that, Sai pointed at Scarlet, his two lions charging towards Scarlet. One of them held Scarlet’s body in place, biting on his waist while the other jumped on top of the head as the fangs ripped off Scarlet’s head.
Final Exam (3): Dreamland
After the smoke cleared from the kunai’s explosion tag, Scarlet approached Sai and poked at him with his index finger with a funny expression. Scarlet even slapped him lightly, but Sai’s eyes remained firmly closed, lost in his dream world. The crowd laughed as they watched Scarlet play with his sleeping opponent. Scarlet quietly muttered to himself. “Nobody, huh…”
Scarlet yelled across the arena at Shikamaru who was suppose to be somewhere around. “Isn’t it over? He doesn’t look like he's gonna wake up.”
Shikamaru quickly jumped down from one of the railings, walking over to examine Sai. “Hm…” He walked beside Scarlet, grabbing his arm as he raised it high. “Sai is no longer able to fight. Winner - Scarlet Blaze.”
The crowd cheered on as Scarlet had beaten Sai with ease, almost too easily. Upon hearing Shikamaru, Scarlet formed a hand sign, breaking his own Genjutsu. “Release.”
Sai opened his eyes, his fantasy long gone. He abruptly came back to his senses, tumbling away as he saw Scarlet only inches away from him, slowly raising himself back up. Shikamaru sighed as he appeared behind Sai, grabbing him by the shoulder. “You lost."
Sai gave a sharp look at Scarlet as he cursed under his breath. “Genjutsu under another Genjutsu, is it…”
Scarlet walked away towards the waiting area where others were at, watching down at the field. Sai looked around as the crowd laughed at him and cheered for Scarlet. He stood in place for a good minute until he accepted what had happened as he smiled at Shikamaru, proceeding to follow Scarlet upstairs.
