I have no idea what the brackets are based off of, but currently it makes no sense. On my server, there are currently 5 groups that can qualify for GNW each week, 3 bigger ones and two weak ones.
As far as qualifier goes, at least 2 of the bigger one, usually all 3, rank on top, depending on qualifier matchmaking.
Activity and power wise, obiviously the bigger ones are before the weaker ones.
Yet, in at least half of the brackets, the two weaker one are on the same side of the bracket, with no opponents, while the 3 bigger ones fight it out for a chance at final. This makes no sense.
The bracket, IMO, should look like this, based on one or more critieria(power rank, activity rank, qualifier pts, possibly converting each ranking into point values and use that to determine overall ranking/seeding)
(1 vs 8) vs (4 vs 5)
vs
(2 vs 7) vs (3 vs 6)
(look familiar? because most sport does this)
I know for a fact that this is not done based on ANY or ANY COMBINATION of criteria. Because this weak, the 1st ranked in power&activity was 2nd in qualifier while the 2nd ranked power&activity was 1st in qualfier, and they are fighting in round 1. Thou at least the two weaker group are on different side of bracket this time, so they wont get into the finals.
It's hardly fair that one of the stronger guild who is a top 3 ends up with 5-8 place while the 4th, objectively speaking, group ends at 2nd. Currently, the 2nd and 3rd strongest group basically takes turn suffering as the strongest group usually wins all fights so it doesn't impact them.
If you want to give the weaker a chance at rewards, then go by qualifiers. And if the stronger group gets unlucky in qualifiers, they might get a seed slot. But as it stands, the strong getting punished for no apprental reason is very peeving.
