Summary: A continuing story of the 5 Naruto Online Mains in a slightly different universe than the actual Naruto. The night has passed and Chunin exam’s 2nd phase has finally begun.

***The settings have been slightly shifted from the Naruto universe to match the story. They'll be explained as the story progresses, but don't be surprised if you suddenly find someone that was alive dead, or someone dead alive. =D

Note: I'm using character titles for the names temporarily (Midnight Azure Scarlet Breeze Crimson), but definitely willing to decide on an actual name. Comment below if you've got any name suggestions!

Note 2: Rated it as T because I plan on writing some material that should definitely be rated like that. However, not all of them are necessarily T.





Forest of Death (4): Begin!


Everyone gathered at the fenced gates, signing an I-may-die-here form before proceeding to the second stage. As everyone signed their forms, the teams were handed a scroll, some with the letter Sky and some with Earth. Anko, the exam supervisor for the second stage, started to explain the exam.

“Alright, Genins! Your team’s goal is to acquire both scrolls, heaven and earth, and bring them to the central tower where you may open them. The scrolls can be achieved by any means necessary, whether it be stealing, trading, or even fighting and killing.”

As she spoke, every group started to discuss how to acquire the other scroll, all groups except one; Midnight and Sai stood still in silence, looking into the forest with a cold expressionless gaze. Breeze stood behind them, not too worried about getting the scroll but more worried about how many people her team would kill.

“Now, before you kids run off, remember! Under no cir*stances should you open the scrolls before acquiring both and reaching the central tower. If you do, your team will be automatically disqualified.” Anko looked over the dozens of Genins before her, and smiled slightly as she anticipated some interesting results from a few of them. “Begin!”


Forest of Death (5): 3 vs 3 vs 1

Walking through the forest, Azure was half-awake, slugging behind Crimson as he occasionally looked back to sigh. “…You didn’t sleep last night, did you?” Azure rubbed her eyes to try to get herself awake, shaking her head. “Uh…of course I did. Psh, what are you talking about.”

Crimson studied Azure, who was one step away from sleep walking. He stopped and turned around to face the rest of the team. “Well, we have plenty of time, and it’s probably better we rest up a bit…we’ll be in trouble like this if someone attacks us.” He turned his head to face Scarlet. “Right, Scarlet?”

Instead of responding, Scarlet held his finger over his lips, signalling Crimson that something was up. He gritted his teeth as he sarcastically spoke. “…You jinxed it, Crimson.”

As soon as Scarlet finished his sentence, he turned around while he took out a kunai from his back, blocking a sword lunge from a mist ninja from the back. “…Well *. Haha.” Crimson grabbed Azure and wrapped his arms around her as he blocked dozens of needles from reaching her, instead burying into his arm. The shock woke Azure up a bit, as she soon realized what was going on. “Wait, what-“

Crimson held himself up as he winced at the pain, realizing they were poisonous. He and Scarlet knew he wouldn’t be up for much longer, and they had no time for Azure to cure him in the midst of the fight. Scarlet deflected the sword with his kunai as he took out an explosion tag, attaching it to his kunai and throwing it to where the needles came from.

The two mist ninjas jumped out of their hiding, avoiding the worst of the explosion. They quickly lunged at Crimson and Azure, while Scarlet was still occupied by the sword user. Crimson braced himself as he gathered what strength he had left, placing himself in front of Azure.


The mist ninjas launched additional needles as they charged towards the two. Crimson deflected the oncoming needle attacks with his wristguard, smashing them sideways. He grabbed one of the mist ninjas by the head, smashing him into the ground head first while feeling his arm losing strength from the poison. He lifted himself up to face the other mist ninja, but realized the ninja on the ground was still conscious as he stabbed a poisoned knife into his leg - he realized the smash wasn’t powerful enough due to the poison. Crimson fell to his knees, unable to stop the second enemy’s halberd from coming down at him.


Azure quickly took out her knife in an attempt to parry the halberd, but the weight difference was too big. It moved slightly sideways as it slid off Azure’s knife, slashing Crimson by the side instead of directly striking him. Crimson tried to ignore the bleeding and get back up, but he had no strength as the poison sapped away at his stamina in addition to the bleeding. The halberd was now pointing at Crimson’s chest, while the other mist ninja held needles with his fist, pointed at Crimson’s neck. He yelled at Scarlet and Azure. “Hand over the scroll before we kill your comrades, kid!”


Scarlet stopped fighting along with the sword user and bit his lips as he took out his Earth scroll from his inner pocket. “Tch…here.” The sword ninja took the scroll, and nodded at his team mates. “Kill them.”


“What? Wait!” Scarlet shouted and ran towards Azure and Crimson’s direction, but was too far to help. Azure lunged at them without much thinking before getting kicked away. The mist ninjas laughed at their attempt as the needles closed in to Crimson’s neck.


Moments before reaching his neck, the mist ninja felt a sharp pain in his wrist as he looked at his hand, which was somehow missing, showing his inner bones and muscles. “What-“ The two mist ninjas’ heads instantly flew off into the sky as they were decapitated in a flash. Scarlet and the sword ninja stared at the flying heads as they tried to understand what was going on, until the sword ninja’s head was no longer in place either. Scarlet stopped midway as Midnight’s blade was pointing at his neck, Scarlet’s Earth scroll in his hands. “…I’m taking this. Fight back for it if you want it.”


With that, Midnight withdrew his sword and put the scroll in his pocket, walking away from the site. Scarlet ran over to Azure instead, who was busy curing Crimson from the poison. “Hey…is he ok?”


Azure nodded as she looked over at Scarlet. “He’ll be fine. He’s just out of strength right now, and the poison was just a type of paralysis.” Azure looked over the site, pools of blood forming from the mist ninja corpses. “…Midnight hasn’t changed at all.”


Scarlet got back up as he rummaged through the corpses, finding a Heaven scroll. “Well, he’s a genius that skipped a year back in academy. Not many people can do stuff like…” He waved his hand over at the killing site. “…this.”
