I tried to challenged a player in ranked but i got the message as seen below "opponent already fighting", i've been getting this message for the past 20 mins, while my oponent is moving freely in town...

Someone could be attacking him, that still counts as in fight.

Also, as he is highly ranked, that's where a lot of ptw resides, they have no challenge cd. So someone could be repeatedly challenging him to try to grind him down. I did this during the free medal period everyday before the rewards are given out (granted, fox is usually in middle of that, but immediately before and after, i grind)

I am sorry but this isn't bug. As other already mentioned, someone else could be attacking him. After all, it was ranked battle.
