Can't please both, on one side f2p want stuff without spending coupons/ingots on other hand p2w who buy them don't like when it's given out for free, since they spend money for it. Best they can do is just run few events of both types at same time.
I wouldn't go that far. It all has to do with price and timing. If I spent $80 on a ninja that is made free in a week or two, I would feel burned. However if I spent $10 to get a ninja a week or two early I wouldn't feel bad. On the other hand, if I spent $80 on a ninja, and it was made grind-able (taking a month or so of farming) after a couple of months or so I wouldn't feel as bad.
The other thing to keep in mind is, the less P2W players have to spend on one item/ninja, the more they have for other items/ninja/events. So I wouldn't know any player who would turn down a way to grind something out. P2W will still spend their money one something (and most of the time be more then happy to do so), or will still spend to speed up getting the ninja/item they want. The only thing a P2W would most likely get up set about is if you did as I said above, and release a ninja for too much, and then make him/her earn-able too soon. Other then that, as a P2W player, I will gladly take more chances to earn something in game. The more core items/ninja there are to earn, the more comfortable I feel about the direction of the game, making it easier for me to spend monthly, or even weekly on other items.
