I find it puzzling when people simplify Kakashi and Obito's relationship, diminishing the significance of Obito's bond with Rin. To me, Rin was not merely a girl Obito had a crush on; she was his closest friend. Obito's pre-war life was filled with positive moments shared with Rin. She was the one he confided in, the first person to believe in his dreams of becoming Hokage, and his emotional support.

Their connection ran deep, and Rin was there for Obito in many ways, not just because of her looks but because she genuinely cared about him. Their relationship resembled the bond between Nagato and Yahiko, with the difference that Obito had romantic feelings for Rin. It's surprising that Obito cared about Kakashi as much as he did, given that their friendship wasn't as close as his friendship with Rin until their final mission together.

In my opinion, Kakashi doesn't deserve the title of Obito's best friend; that honor belongs to Rin. Kakashi fell in love with her because she was his friend, not the other way around. This complex relationship is often oversimplified and mischaracterized by fans to criticize the Naruto series, which has faced intense scrutiny since its original run ended nearly a decade ago.

I agree with your assessment of Kakashi and Obito's relationship. It's complex and multifaceted, and it's often oversimplified by fans.

Obito and Rin's relationship was the foundation of his life. She was his closest friend, his confidante, and his emotional support. He cared about her deeply, both as a friend and as a romantic interest.

Kakashi and Obito's relationship was different. They were teammates, but they weren't as close as Obito and Rin. Kakashi was more focused on his own goals and aspirations, while Obito was more concerned about helping others.

It's important to note that Obito's feelings for Kakashi changed over time. After Rin's death, Obito came to blame Kakashi for her death. He felt that Kakashi had failed to protect her, and he turned his anger and hatred on him.

However, even in his darkest moments, Obito still cared about Kakashi. He wanted to save him, even if it meant sacrificing himself.

Ultimately, I think it's fair to say that both Rin and Kakashi were important to Obito. Rin was his best friend and the love of his life. Kakashi was his teammate and rival, but he was also someone that Obito cared about deeply.

I think it's also important to note that the Naruto series is a complex story with many different characters and relationships. It's not always easy to understand or appreciate these relationships, especially on a first viewing.

I think it's healthy for fans to have different interpretations of the story and its characters. However, it's also important to be respectful of other fans' opinions, even if we don't agree with them.

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this topic. It's given me a lot to think about.

Agree with Obito and Rin relationship being underestimated, though I think Obito and Kakashi relationship isn't an understatement. In our lives sometimes we don't get to choose who we have as team mates, or when we do projects in school, in a way our teams assignment are a part of being fated together. The very best we can do is actually for the team as a whole to make the best of it. In the case of the ninja story this is even more so, as the team is a matter of work-mission and life and death.

The occupation that the ninja role took was not one like a regular civilian it is literally the path of a soldier. I think being on the same team meant a lot more than just a project it means being able to be there for each other when it really counts, and that relationship cannot be build easily over the course of a short time.

Obito and Kakashi are basically there to be for each other as well as were rivals in more than one ways, allow them to not only compete and help each other improve, but as a measure of their growing up and reasoning for: "What it meant to be a ninja in their time how life has treated them at their young aspirating malleable age" There contradicting paths were not much less difference to that compare to what Naruto and Sasuke had in their life time, which is why Kakashi was able to learn from his own experiences and build upon it to help Naruto and Sasuke in their team effort if anything. Imo

I understand your perspective on Obito and Rin's relationship and the significance of their bond. It's true that their connection was deep and multifaceted, reflecting a genuine friendship that went beyond mere infatuation. Their dynamic, along with Obito's feelings for Rin, adds a complex layer to the narrative, enriching the emotional depth of the characters in the Naruto series. Thank you for sharing your insights on this matter.
