If you want to have a good/fresh start then probably the newest servers are best.

The problem is

Even if you do get on a new server, your friend will have the same problem when X-Server opens up and potentially even on the new server itself.

try giving a new server a shot if you have the time maybe your friend hates being ranked low or being under power or maybe your current server is inactive.
