Rogue Ninja Capture Ranking - how does it work?

Can anyone explain to me how this ranking works? It seems odd, that when the same amount of captures is available the one with less defeated (kills of opponents) gets the lower rank. It's also not like he captured 17 first or something like that.

Winner is determined by who captures most rogue ninjas and first. Killing opponents is just tactical thing to cut other group from this event.

Defeated players wont give you any progress toward higher rank. Only captured ninjas are counted.

If you do it in the 2-3 man group and you all have same number of captured ninjas then leader of the group will have highest rank,

IF two players have same amount of captured ninjas then who ever captured last ninja faster will be higher ranked.
