In survival trial, like in every other feature where you can't select your equipment, you have equipped on your ninjas your by default placed equipment.
To know what is your by default equipment just remove all the gear from your ninjas and move your main, then add a ninja. The equipment your main will have on himself will be the equipment your move 1 in those features have, the equipment your ninja will have will be the gear your move 2 will have and so on.
The only exception to this is arena, but only because your main is there by default, so that stat is what your main will have there and the stats the 2nd ninja owns will be the stats your move 1 there will have (for initiative only in this case).

se on your overall initiative divided evenly between your positions then add treasure tools for each position so either that player has more overall initiative or a better position 1 treasure tool or both.
Yes, i heard that legend too. This statement comes from the devs jiburiru an co. asked to when a lot of weird behaviors happened in arena and matsuri in the old past, at the time when barriers meant everything in arena, and they gave to the mods and so to us this explanation you take for granted is true too, then 3vs3 arena appeared and showed blatantly how this is not true, even if was pretty clear also before from matsuri, simply taking a look at what happened to some whales you met there that had move 1 that landed close to no damage and move 2 or 3 that critted almost always with a 2.5x or higher damage multiplier in comparison with the not critical damage (something that indeed is normal it happens if injury is spreaded...).
The only part that is spreaded in matsuri are magatamas and runes, but not refinements and charm levels, that are specifically li
nked and unremovable to the specific piece of gear. Otherwise explain to me how is possible that somebody with almost 15k total initiative lower than me moves before me in 3vs3 arena (and beware i have a triple level 15 tool in move 1 and level 9 assist li
nks).

She has 5927, 5685, 10874 and 6849 initiative.
I have 6356, 5922, 13416 and 8636 initiative.
I believe my treasure tools are stronger as well, especially the one on position 1. Since I have 169k power and she has 129k power.
Then the reason is the one they told you. Survival trial ultimate mode grants a boost to secondary stats to your enemy, it's just that i never noticed it, because I've always moved before the same. Pretty sure is something that came out with 5.0
