First of all, about the exams :

The best solution for the majority of exams are Sage Naruto - Bee - Normal Gaara and mostly wind main. This is due to her senjutsu passive and reset, which means you can double fire all mysteries within 2-3 rounds, plus some additional wind buff that'll buff them both. You could give that a try as lightning main as well, I'm not really sure if that would pass the exam, but a team like this for example which you could try out :

In general Naruto sage mode and Gaara are high damage dealers, the bloodthirsty demon and Naruto's senjutsu passive will allow you to fire Gaara round 2. In exams, in general, many of the opponents are dealing way too much damage and thats why you gotta get rid of them as soon as possible. Give it a try!


Now to the other part, the reason you won't see many players using the lightning main is, that he is not really the best support for current meta teams, which means he's the less supportive main for many of them. For example, Edo Deidara, Edo Hashirama, Kakuzu, Six Paths Naruto*, Minatos*, etc . He is working with very specific teams( for example only mostly full buffs and root), ninjas and strategies.

*(They work a bit with leech, but much less potential against opponents earth mains, wind mains f.e.)

He is a great ninja for the early game.


Now, some teams that you can build with your ninjas:

A really classic team, Sasuke Susano'o is only working with buffs and resets, because his damage is not really the best, he needs a lot of support himself. You can run Sasuke mostly with ninjas such as the above, Iruka, Fu, ninjas that buff Sasuke in general.

Another option which you already know for sure are the Ay, 3rd Raikage teams with Samui, Omoi, Darui combinations.

You also have Kushina, she is a great position one ninja and really tanky, you c*e many formations with her, here is a base idea:



A very solid team overall, it is tanky, has some leeches, removes immunity with Kushina, can immobile, etc. In general it works really fine in pvp, you can give it a try. You can change chiriku also if you want with any other ninja that can support this team, if you want more buffs, you can try Iruka for example or Hashirama, any other barrier ninja. For more support, you can try Gakido, Kurenai, Ningendo, etc ninjas like these.


Few more options are to play with Roshi teams around, using Killerbee and Yagura for example, but this team is kinda old style now and would have too high of a cool down for the mysteries, so I'm not really recommending it anymore with lightning main at least. You can try Roshi with Fuguki edo and any other support with root. Once you acquire Kurama, you c*e him with Roshi and lightning main, they're a very awesome combination.

In general, you have ninjas which could work with the other mains very solid, in case you are interested or would like in the future to ask, feel free to do so.
