the exp bar for the tree is shown when u hover over the tree lvl....u need 200 exp for lvling up to lvl 7. The growth is not equivalent to tree exp; it simply means ur tree is ready for harvesting when growth is full

There is no bug,someone already post the same question...click on water tree lv. 6 and you can see exp there...you need that exp to get that tree to level 7 and for level 8 you need 500 xp,etc
You can get exp from friends and watering for them
