Wind main can cleanse debuffs and reset mystery cooldown, Earth main has a chakra+massive shield providing mystery or a 1 layer of debuff clearing+standard giving mystery. Water main can heal up all the units in your team or have a chaos inducing round to round mystery(if used with neurotoxin+ninjutsu experimentation) that *s off all chakra. Lastly, Fire main gives an immunity shield.
