This might not seem like a big deal, but I can't keep it inside me any longer!

There have been numerous mentions of an apparent "bug" with the Speed Trial of Ultimate Training, talking about an extreme and unprecedented difficulty scaling (opponents take zero damage and deal infinity damage... that type of thing). To these "bug" reports, the community response is that there actually is no bug, and this scaling is intentional. I'm going to explain why, to the contrary, the "intentional" difficulty scaling is indistinguishable from a bug, and some kind of improvement/change is necessary.

1. There are no other instances in the entire game where the initiative stat is used to directly scale your opponents power and toughness like it is in the Speed Trial, and there is no indication that there should be a difference.. While the mouseover tips for each Ultimate Training type do mention the stats that you ought to have...

2. The other Ultimate Training Trials, Survival and Force, do not scale with their recommended stats in the same way that the Speed Trial does. The difficulty of the Speed Trial comes as a difficulty shock to players much more than the other trials do. Players have no clue that initiative is being treated in such a weird way, and instead think that the trial is broken.

3. Initiative is already too important of a stat in every other part of the game. It doesn't need it's own special part of the game where it has amplified importance... since it's already a very important one. Because of how easy it is to disable your opponent (with Chaos, Immobile, etc.), having just slightly higher initiative than your opponent can mean the entire battle.

What I'm suggesting is that something be changed or adjusted about the Speed Trial so that it doesn't seem bugged. You could update the mouseover tips to reflect how the initiative stat is actually used, reduce or eliminate the anomalous scaling altogether or change it into some more interesting type of trial (like a "chase" trial, area damage trial, control trial, etc.).
