Hi! Magatamas do cost coins and the required lower Magatamas to upgrade, so you will have a net loss in coins. Rune Stones on the other hand does not cost anything besides the required experience of lower Rune Stones, so you can downgrade and upgrade Rune Stones without any net loss.
