Choji, Shino, and Shikamaru were sitting around the lunch table chatting. Out of nowhere, Ino and Breeze came running up.

“Did you guys hear?” asked Breeze.

“About what?” Shino replied.

Bursting at the seams, Ino blurted, “The coolest thing to happen in the Hidden Leaf since Naruto destroyed the Akatsuki. We’re having a bonfire party. Not only that but it’s a D A N C E!"

Leaning the chair back on two legs, Shikamaru commented, “Sounds like a drag.”

“What’s a drag this time Shadow Man?” teased Fist as he and Fang joined the group. “I’m sure it’s something good. Right?”

“I bet he’s complaining about the dance part of the bonfire.” Quipped Fang.

Lee, arriving on his hands, interjects, “What about the dance? Are we allowed to dance on our hands? I can line dance like this. If I cannot line dance, then I will do The Hokey Pokey 100 times while on my hands.”

“You’re such a goof, Lee. The Hokey Pokey? Why not something cool like the Cha Cha Slide?” commented Blaze as he proceeded to clap his hands and move to left.

Looking at everyone, a blush crept up to Breeze’s cheeks, yet she forced the words out, “Guys. Guys! We’re supposed to bring dance partners. So, I was thinking since we must attend, and it is going to be boring and all. Shikamaru, will you be my dancing drag for the night?”

A pin dropping in the grass could have been heard as everything seemed to stop. All eyes turned to Shikamaru, who looked surprised. Then turned toward Breeze, who turned even redder as she realized how she asked the question. Shikamaru, the secret Hidden Leaf's gentleman, cleared his throat before speaking, "It would be the highest honor, Miss Dancer, to * you to the bonfire and dance. With you as my companion, I’m sure the evening will be anything but a drag.”

He then turned to Choji and said, “Let’s go Choji. We need to get the proper attire for the dance.”

"We're going to the dance? I don't dance Shikamaru. You know that." Stated Choji as they moved away from their fellow shinobi. "I hope they have plenty of BBQ. BBQ is always good at bonfires. You can warm it up. . . "

One by one the group was making plans for the big night. Time passed and yet there was still one who had yet to make any plans at all: Blade. He figured he wasn't going to go the * bonfire or the * dance. It was a waste of time. Time he could spend learning a new Jutsu or be honing his other skills. It wasn't like he was friends with any of them anyway. He made his feelings well-known about this disastrous event.

The Hidden Leaf was a flurry of activity as the night of the bonfire arrived. Neji, Kiba, and Tenten were helping with a few last-minute decorations. Sakura, Hinata, and Sai finished helping with the food preparations. Each headed home to prepare for their very first bonfire dance. Now they just needed to wait for the sun to finish going down and the party like it was the end of time.

Each shinobi, young or old, arrived in the state of high fashion...dressed to the nines. Mingling. Laughing. Eating. Talking. There was much merrymaking that night around the bonfire. Except for one curious thing missing from the dance – dancing. Not a single shinobi – Kakashi, Guy, Lady Tsunade, Asuma, or Breeze, Fist, Blaze, or Ino, Tenten, Shino, or Sakura – was dancing. The bonfire was awesome. The dance was dead.

A trumpet sounded in the distance from the east. Another from the west. Then from the south. Finally, the north. All movement stopped. Each shinobi was poised for action...positive that this was some enemy attack. Dazzling lights exploded in the sky and mythical creatures: dragons, griffins, and hippogriffs appeared. People started to dash for cover. It was unclear if this was some sort of weapon or Jutsu being used. The report of the exploding lights was deafening while the fear of the panicked villagers was tangible.

Amidst the confusion, a lone figure could be seen walking towards the bonfire. A man wearing a tuxedo…wearing a tuxedo and carrying a sword. He walked straight up to the Hokage and smiled. With a sweeping bow, he spoke, “Lady Tsunade, Fifth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, it would be an honor and a privilege to * you to the dance and have the first dance of the evening. Might I be so bold as to ask for the Lady’s favor?”

Tsunade stammered, “You fool. I thought you said you hated dances.” She s* her head amused. “ It would be a pleasure Mr. Blade for us to kick off this party. Let’s show them how it’s done!”
