“..uke...Sasuke… SASUKE!”

I jolted up holding a kunai straight out. I make out that Naruto was perched outside of my window with a dumb look on his face waving. What does this idiot want now, I thought to myself. I rub the tiredness from my eyes and walk over to the window. I crack it just enough to hear what this child has to say.

“What do you want?” I say with my back to the window.

“Everyone wanted to get together and have some fun at the training fields, since we’ve all been so busy with missions lately and this is the first time we’ve all had some time off… I, uh… thought I’d invite you too.”, says Naruto scratching the back of his head.

“Not a chance. Get lost.” I say looking over my shoulder with a glare.

“Well… uh… Kakashi Sensei said that it was mandatory… yea! And that… while we were there he wanted to discuss something with us about our next mission too.”, says Naruto still with that * grin on his face.

Naruto was obviously lying but in the off chance that he was telling the truth i figured that I mine as well go.

“Fine, I’ll be there when I’m ready.”

“Yeahaa!” Naruto jumps off the ledge and dashes off toward the training fields.

I feel a cold breeze as I’m getting ready. That idiot left the window open. I walk over and close it and continue to get ready. As I’m about to open the door to leave my apartment I start to shiver. It’s the end of July, it shouldn’t be this cold around here.

I make my way to the training fields and I notice someone is following me. I peer back behind my shoulder and see pink hair poking out from behind a fence. My other idiot teammate.

I continue walking toward the training fields and when I get there all I see are training dummies. Surely I didn’t miss everything. Naruto was just at my apartment 30 minutes ago. Something doesn’t feel too right. I turn around to walk back home.

“SURPR…”

“Fire style: Fire Ball Jutsu!”

I aimed back behind me at the noise from the training field, but noticed all of the training dummies were replaced with everyone that I knew. I threw off the trajectory of my jutsu and aimed above them instead of sending it directly at them.

“Shadow Clone Jutsu!”

Naruto uses his clone to send him up toward the fireball. What an idiot. I notice that he’s holding a cake. The candles skimmed the underside of my Fire Ball Jutsu and he lands clumsily back on the ground.

Everyone in unison shouts, “Happy Birthday Sasuke!”

I can’t help but feel happy, but I’m trying my hardest to not show it. But more than feeling happy… I feel like I’m somewhere where I belong.

“Happy Birthday Sasuke.”

I hear Sakura’s soft voice behind me. I turn around and look, and see a small gift wrapped up in her hands. I open my mouth to say something… but no sound comes out. I can see Sakura’s mouth moving as if she is talking in conversation, but I can’t hear what she’s saying.

Suddenly I hear a large whistling sound and feel a large gust of wind come over my body. I cover my eyes with my arms at the loud gust.

I slowly open my eyes. I’m sitting on the ground with my arm propped on my left leg and my back against a tree, with snow surrounding me.

Just a dream. I smile. I wonder how the others are doing at the village right now.
