Yes you get all the invested orbs back- and just small note- if there was gold one on recycled tool- you will get it's value in purple ones- you lose nothing, so it's safe to do it.

True. Did lots of recicling and when I get a gold essence, I don't put it in pnly 1 slot like power one. I put it first on a bad tool and then I recicle it to get 15 purple orbs(you lose nothing, you just divide the big one into some small one to upgrade more slots
