Dont worry no vip system and the medal system is more like a premium system which gives you some comfort functions nothing pay2win like. It slightly gives you a stat bonus which is like nothing srsly ( +50 power or smt like that) you have over 1000Power after the first day.

No, that was wrong on my Part. I checked the German version later and it's not the same VIP system like these no-license Games have.

You can check the VIP system in the Strategy section, there is a little explanation how it works and what you get.

In every game there will always be the heavy spenders who are the strongest with or without a vip system as long as you can purchase things with real money in game.
