He was strong enough to take down Lee in the Forest of Death and basically oneshot Choji and was never heard from again

Oh, I could go on for hours about why he was an interesting character with a lot of potential. I could talk endlessly about how Kishi wasted a completely fine character just to show that Gaara was fearsome.
