That said, it could be the very first barrier that affect the enemy, hindering the enemy instead of helping allies. Something like lower init (since it's hard to move around) or whatever maybe?

Yeah it could buff his initiative maybe make him tankier also and lower theirs that would be cool. and Shark Mode's barrier does silence your opponent so it wouldnt be the first to hurt them but yeah. I think it would be cool to give him one.

Theoretically speaking, his strongest trait is not defense but actually his attack. He is dying because of his sickness but managed to almost destroy Gaara's absolute defense and kill him.
If anything I'd like to make his skill change into this :Sawarabi no Mai [prompt] (20 chakra) Change the field into bone barrier, while the barrier is active Kimimaro and his team can block 1st standard attack, trigger once per round. Active again (40 chakra) to cause high float, can combo even super armor.

In theory, it could provide a buff to Sound characters, if we're going with that.

why sound ninjas he isnt even apart of the sound 4 O-0 that would make his barrier way to useless

Kimi was a sound Four/Five leader

The Sound Four was originally the Sound Five, with Kimimaro as the leader. As the story goes he took on all of them at once and wrecked them all – apparently he almost killed Kidomaru in the process, even with his malleable golden armor protecting him – which is pretty impressive. I did some calculations a little while back and apparently, if we're being realistic, it'd take a couple elephants' worth of force to break through the golden armor with taijutsu unempowered by chakra...

Then he got his illness (tuberculosis) and was forced to retire, and Sakon and Ukon became the Sound Four's leaders.

Well, if I'm remembering correctly anyways. Either way, Kimimaro had a relationship with Orochimaru just like the one Haku had with Zabuza. He was utterly devoted to him. So it would, in theory, make sense that he would buff his master... with devotion?

Another Hinata does have a passive byakugan barrier that increases crit or something.

Bond orochimaru already has a barrier buffing Sound ninjas (like edo tobirama).

Maybe we will see a proper version of him whenever they will release the Edo Sound Four.
