I was pretty sure it granted the shield to himself regardless the fact the standard attack triggered or not a combo, but now seems is no more so. When did this change and why? Before: Attacks the opponent’s units in the front row and has a given chance of causing [3 COMBO] and [High Float].

Now: Attacks the opponent’s units in the front row and has a given chance of causing [High Float]. Gaara will also generate a [Shield] for himself based on 30% of his Resistance.

Straight from the change from 3.0 to 4.0 on gaara sand shower however due to the wording was probably meant to only gain a shield when he combos since it says also.

That came with old gaara's passive defender of the land of wind. Which was something like "before each turn, generate shield to himself based on *% of his resistance". That was changed in our actual passive (shield to all characters in the field).

The additional shield gained while comboing is something that is propaedeutic for his mutations in future (it will become like Akatsuki's attack, shield 2x ninjas in your lineup)

It think it was meant to be the other way around that it used to be highfloat and generate a shield and not became 3 hit combo and highfloat
