More time between when you played last and when you started again = higher coupons. One of my alts stopped for 2 weeks -> 400 coupons. Stopped for a month -> like 1200 coupons.

I've tested this for the past 2 months. I notice characters that aren't logged in for at least 10 days will trigger the returning event. Tried this on my old inactive characters and used their coupons on some events. One of em got 3rd raikage from the missions box. :D
