Matsuri matching is strange. But I am not sure how it could be modified. For matsuri, after I win once, I nomally change to a weaker second grade team and hope that next opponent is easy, even if it is harder I am okay with giving up a fodder team. Then I bring back main team again, since I am suppposed to get an easier team this time(this might not happen, that's the basic problem). In case you get a tough team while using your best team, I use revival potion. Again after I win one more, I throw a fodder team. This has helped me to get 3-5 victories. Still the matching issue is serious. Also dont let the total time be more than 60 seconds, since it would be random matching afterwards.(but it seems its random in the first 60 seconds also). If you skip nine tails, and do during that time you would get better matching. I once ended up with a 16K (feels bad, but sometimes you gotta do what you need to do). But again there would be tradeoff between nine tails and matsuri, and on all sane days i would chose nine taills over matsuri.

Swb if you are in the top field and you are not a whale is worse, believe me.
