So, today i changed my character name and there is one problem. I have a fancy symbol in it, and it is displayed as a box/square for other players, but it appears just as intended for me in my game. Ive seen a lot of players having similiar stuff in their nicknames, and everyone sees it as it is supposed to. But mine doesnt seem to work correctly..?
It's probably a matter of character encoding. Some character (or symbol, as you call it), are only visible under certain encoding. And if the encoding cannot decipher it, it will end up as blanks or squares.
And default encoding differ ba
Then there is a matter of font. Now, I don't think there is a font difference between when you see your name and when others see your name, thou there is definitely a color difference. To test whether your name is having some kind of "internal" vs "external" view difference, you could use *t to see if the alt can see your name properly. (note that the rule is ONLY against using alt to better your other chars, this viewing test would not, ergo it would be allowed). As you would be using the same browser etc as yourself, if you can view it, that means that your browser etc allows you to view it, ergo it's an encoding matter. If you can't view it yourself from external side, that means somehow the font/color change messes up the character
