Greetings.
Can someone tell me much cupons could be that new Summer break clothing in Lucky board ?
Its 38 points per Frag i have 0 frags.
So it costs around 125/130 coupons per fragment. Around 6500 Coupons.
Clothing is so overpriced is funny, lower your prices oasis.
It isn't overpriced for its intended audience, which is players over 80k power.
The thing is, clothing provides a fixed amount of boost for a fixed price. Most feature in games suffer diminishing return.
For example, right now all my magatama are lv 6 or higher. To upgrade one magatama to 7, it would cost 18 lv 4 magatamas.
This means 135*18 coupon for 133 life, 90 atk/nin or 108*18 coupon for 59 def/res.
Now, I do have lv 5 charms mostly, so there is a boost of 70%, so it's 2430 coupon for 226 life/153 nin/atk or 1944 coupon for 100 def/res
Now compare this with summer youth sai, for example, which provides bonus to 2 primary attribute. This clothing provides 165 nin and 200 res to all chars, so it would be more than 4 SETS of above described nin upgrade, 8 sets of res upgrade (2 per char). This make it, compared to magatama, have a value of over 25k coupon.
On a side note, for player with only lv 2 magatamas, the same boost can be gotten for 5200 coupon w/o charms. Just to show the matter of diminishing return.
Of course, I won't buy magatama anymore, especially not at face value. There are better cost:return items to go for. But this is to demonstrate that "up here", the stat boosts cost a lot.
And when magatama, charms, cave and whatever else all hit diminishing return, what would we invest in next? Something that is a bit expensive but offer a reasonable stat boost for a fixed price of course.
I mean you heard of breakthrough pills, right? Those offer even less power per cost. However, for one they scale with refine positively, and for another, they are pretty much meant for 120k+ player who have even worse diminishing returns.
And besides, you also get a bunch of magatama, mood scroll and whatever on board for that 6500, you aren't BUYING the clothing for 6500.

I like how you broke it down. Now hopefully you can list when other items are at their diminishing returns. That would be great.

Many things have diminishing return, so it's really relative.
I mean as bad as magatama is at lv 6, if you are at 100k power w/ that, you probably have such high level on other stuff like cave rune that magatama become a good investment again.
The trick is to keep things "even", don't spend all your resource in one place(unless it's a feature you just unlocked due to level up, as you'd be playing catch up then), so that everything would have roughly the same extend of diminishing return.
Also, the level of something affects the extend of how hard you should try to get it.
Take cave rune for example, if all of them are lv 5+, you shouldn't be spending coupons on them anymore, just farm keys from tree and get some from event. If the lowest is lv 4 thou, you should get the key pack mystery fruit, whenever they are offered. at lv 3 minimal, you should be buying key packs outright when they are sold, and finally, if you still have lv 2s, you should, at the next key rebate event, spend coupons to do 50 pulls until all of them are lv 3 or higher (you could stop when you are close if you have just passed a rebate point and the next rebate point is far far away, but that's getting complicated)
And you should probably have a tactics that's 1 lv below or even with your magatamas. Thou early on, you could consider not spending on it just to see which ones get lucky, so you can focus on those later.
It's just that clothing and breakthrough pills are special in that they don't have diminishing return, so they scale badly early compared to stuff that do (and haven't suffered much from it) but are very good later when most things have hit the wall hard.

pills may not have diminishing returns but they r generaly just worse than everything else because of their high cost. they are not for the people with 120k+ power, i have 130k and dont bother farming them because they give so little power for their cost. you probably need 175k+ right now for pills to be worth it. and as new features come out that number will increase so f2p will never want to farm pills. also pills dont realy scale at all either, with a lvl 10 refine you get 12-13 power you get about 6 power with a lvl 8 refine and you dont get more for gold stats, i have a piece of gear at level 10 refine and 10 breakthrough with 2 gold stats so trust me on that.
i did the math before, too lazy to find the post, but it ended up with farming lvl 8 mags was worth more power(without adding in charms) per coupon then pills were worth. i forget if lvl 9 mags were worth more too or not, but after adding in charms they probably are.
@mass - the clothing is alot cheaper in this event than the one i bought it from, and you get more extras as well. also as luka said, clothing gives power without diminishing returns, the summer break clothing if i remember right gave me 500 power, so at 5k cost thats 10 coupons per power which is better than the power gained by medium refines and most things once you get to 50k+.
Cost effectiveness of pills is so bad that you need to basically cap everything else before it is worth it.
For this specific clothing, the higher price can be justified due to it giving 100 init to each ninja slot. If you have at least lvl 5 cave runes, lvl 4 head charms, lvl 4 refines), that clothing already give you more init per coupon spent. Despite being nearly 3x the price of the other clothing, I'd still consider this one to be the most cost effective.
Summon runes have diminishing returns too, I only ever use scrolls during the rebate and do the full 100 each time, however now that all 3 sets of my Runes are level 7, a rebate of 100 summon scrolls gets me less than half of one set of runes to level 8, so basically it's going to take like 5 more 100 scroll summon rebates to get all of my runes to level 8.
Before that, 1 rebate would get me a full set of 7s on one summon.
True, but summon rune are unique in that it's almost completely decoupled from everything else in term of resources, it's in the exclusive zone of just "summon" resources. Now, you could convert other resource into this (via event pts or coupon), but that's generally bad to begin with so in practice there is little to no competition of resource from summon rune.
The only "competition" summon rune have is buying summon, and aside from kirin and KoH, getting full set is not hard enough to justify buying with coins unless you have no alternative to the team you are to use. And... as for those two, the price is so exorbitant that it's fairly impractical.
That's why as far as summon is concerned, I don't bother advising beyond "only on rebate" because there aren't a lot of options and therefore very hard to do things "wrong"
