Hi! If you hover over your wishing tree's level on the bottom of the wishing tree, you will see the experience bar. From my experience, the experience bar increases one point for every time you water your friend's tree.

Yupz! It's cause even though you receive rewards for topping up your tree to a certain level by friends. The visible bar on the top is not the same as experience bar. I recommend taking your cursor and hovering on what is shown below:

As far as I can tell you get 1 experience for watering your own tree and 1 experience for watering someone else's tree for a total of 11 xp per day. The lvl 9 tree requires 2000 xp to level so it's going to take 181 days to go from lvl 9 to 10. Level 10 requires 3000 xp to level up, so 273 days.

If it's stuck for a long time, it just means there aren't many people watering your tree.

I've been playing this game over a year and never knew this. I just thought it was a bug and it just randomly went up a level every now and then
