When I go to split the mag to get the remainder out, it says it will split my lvl 7 mag into 3 lvl 6s, but doesn't mention anything about the remainder (570 points remaining). No, unfortunately splitting your magatamas does not give the remaining points. I suggest that you should lvl up your magatama until it reaches the next lvl and then split it.

When you split into those three Magatama, one will have the left overs on it. I have done this many times..

As what greenlee said, one of those lv6 magatamas will have extra points. If you want all of them to have 0 points, then you should split the magatama with extra points back to level 1.
