I highly recommend spending some time, coins, stamina, and coupons on upgrading your rune stones, magatama, equipment, ninja awakenings, charms, and refinements/purification. Those give you the biggest power boosts and I suggest you do them one at a time so you don't accidentally miss anything or find yourself in a tight spot.
