Congrat man, it's a big achievement and as you well put it, requires insane levels of initiative.

We have suggested many times ways to improve ranked arena. Unfortunately the devs can't/won't touch the code other than to set the prices and rewards of events.

The only way to get to sage is to do what you did, wait to get initiative (at least 12k), a meta lineup and get lucky.
