Naruto and Midnight dropped down on to the clearing. The new Toad Sage looked at the large tree in front of them. But it wasn't a natural one. It looked like a large tree made from paper. Midnight walked up and observed the tree.
"There's no doubt about it, this is where they're hiding. This tree looks like something Konan would make."

Midnight looked back and saw Naruto's face still contained anger. He would try to comfort him, but Naruto's vicious when he's angry. The Tenchi Bridge encounter was proof of that. They both entered the fake tree and was immediately met with a flutter of papaer.

The Kenjutsu master merely sliced through the paper, but a voice stopped both. "Enough Konan. Withdraw your paper."

The flutter of paper was drawn back, letting Naruto and Midnight see two figures in front. One was Konan, the other was an extremely skinny red haired main. So skinny, his rib cage was showing. Another thing is that he had the Rinnegan. Naruto frowned and stepped forward.

"So, you're the master behind Pein?"

The red-haired main nodded. "Indeed. I am the true Pein. But my real name, is Nagato Uzumaki."

Naruto's eyes widened in shock. This whole time, he's been fighting family. But he schooled his features and glared at Nagato. "So, tell me Nagato. You were a student of Jiraiya-sensei. What caused to act like this, huh?! Why did you kill him?! Why did you kill Jiraiya-sensei! Why did you destroy my home!"

Midnight got wary, but was shocked that the Kyuubi chakra didn't even leak out. "What happened?"

Nagato looked at the blonde Uzumaki's eyes and explained. "Only when a person experiences great pain will they know understanding. Through pain, a person will undestand the world, and there they shall unite."

Naruto just growled in anger. "I know that already! Stop spouting your bull*!" Midnight's eyes widened. He never heard Naruto swear. "What I wanna know is why did you abandon Jiraiya-sensei's teachings!"

Konan stepped up to slap Naruto, but Nagato made a gesture to stop her. "Very well, I shall explain. Back when I was little boy, I lived with my parents. But then the war struck, a stray Konoha shinobi stumbled upon our home and killed my parents in front of me. This resulted in me killing him with my Rinnegan. After that, I wandered Ame, trying to find solace. That was when I met what would become my two friends, Yahiko and Konan. Fellow orphans of mine."

To Midnight's and Naruto's certain shock, with a flash, it showed the events Nagato spoke up. His parents' murder, and him meeting his two friends. "From there, we became inseperable. But the war was still going. It was there we met the legenderay Sannin, Tsunade, Orochimaru and Jiraiya-sensei. We asked them to train us in Ninjutsu so we could fend for ourselves, Tsunade declined, while Orochimaru silently offered to kill us so we may be spared from this world's horror. Jiraiya-sensei saw to it that we can defend ourselves and left to train us."

The scenes spoken showed, making Naruto and Midnight feel something. Perhaps it was pity? Sadness? Nagato continued.

"At first, he taught us how to scour for food, such as fish, while we all wore ridiculous toad costumes. A few weeks later, he taught us everything he knew about Ninjutsu to our potential. After that, he said farewell to us to rejoin the war."

Once again, the scenes changed and showed the spoken events. Naruto felt jealousy, since these people seemed to have an immense fun while they trained with Jiraiya. Nagato resumed.

"It was after the war Yahiko decided to spread peace, and created the original Akatsuki. He gained followers, supporters, resources. It was then, to our surprise, that Hanzo of the Salamander, sought our audience to combine our forces in an effort for peace. Naturally, we were excited. But it was a trap."

Again, it showed all events mentioned. The original Akatsuki's formation, and them meeting Hanzo of the Salamander, which turned into a disaster, where they were ambushed, to their shock, by both Ame and Konoha shinobis.

"Our forces were cut off and Konan was captured. Hanzo demanded that I either kill Yahiko to spare Konan, or that I choose Yahiko to live and Konan will die. I was struck s*en, but I wasn't given a choice. Yahiko plunged the kunai within himself, and he died."

The flash showed Hanzo capturing Konan, and demanding Nagato to choose. The scene changed and showed Yahiko charging and plunging the kunai in him. With that, he mumbled a few things and died.

"It was there, that I have snapped. Yahiko's debt has impacted me a lot and it gave me the enough motivation to kill everyone there, but Hanzo escaped. The skrimish left my legs unusable and my body weakened. It was then we were approached by a masked man who asked us to reform the Akatsuku into a new group to capture the Bijuus and use them into a powerful kinjutsu that can plunge the world through fear. Yahiko was the true leader, and so I used his body as a replacement for myself. My first act as leader, I tracked down and killed Hanzo, along with others connected to him."

The scenes showed Nagato summoning a large creature that embedded him with multiple chakra rods, draining him and killed all Konoha ANBU and Ame-nins. This all happened while Nagato had a psychotic grin. It shifted and showed a masked man talking to Nagato and Konan. Then it showed Yahiko, now as Tendo, along with the other paths killing Hanzo.

"And now we are here. Tell me Naruto Uzumaki, what do plan to do now?"

Midnight looked at Naruto, who was looking on the ground, fists clenched. "I...I don't know. When I came here, I had the intent to kill you for destroying my home, killing my senseis, and for killing someone who loved me. Right now, I don't know wether to pity you or forgive you in my nature. Jiraiya-sensei, he was like the father I never had. For him to die is something that impacted my life a lot. And to learn that someone has loved me for a long time, but then they die the day they say it? That's something I never want to happen I again. Nagato, I guess I forgive you. Even if you've killed so many innocent, but you were in so much pain that you were swayed into dark things. I've people like you, and I've forgiven them."

Nagato stared at Naruto for a moment, before he allowed a smile to grace his face. "Then perhaps, I shall start my redemption now."

He weakly raised his arms, alarming Konan. "Nagato don't!"

Nagato merely smiled and continued on. "Don't worry Konan. I know what I'm doing." He formed the Ram and Snake hand seal and spoke the jutsu's name. "Gedō — Rinne Tensei no Jutsu!"

On the crater of Konoha, the head of the King of Hell rose from the ground and opened up its mouth widely and arched back. Dozens of souls shot out of the mouth and started surging to various bodies of Konoha. Some of them being Kakashi, Tsunade, Fukasaku and Hinata.

Azure and Sakura continued healing, until Hinata's eyes started to flutter open, making both medic-nins smile. The soul shot into Kakashi, making him shoot his eyes open and look around. The soul merged with Fukasaku and he opened up his eyes, making Shima smile.

Back with Nagato, his hair wilted and turned white, making Naruto and Midnight surprised. His arms dropped to the side and he looked at the two. "Naruto, take them." But before he could say what them was, his eyes closed. Forever.

Konan sniffled and hugged her friend's corpse. Naruto and Midnight bowed their heads, praying for the departed. Naruto realized what Nagato wanted him to take. He walked up to Nagato's corpse and reached for his face, making Konan growl in anger.

"What do you think you're doing?"

Naruto stopped and looked at the blue-haired angel. "Doing his last words. He said take them, and I can only assume his eyes. The Rinnegan is a powerful dojutsu, and for it fall in the wrong hands."

Konan thought about it, before she nodded in agreement. Naruto asked for Midnight to carefully pluck out the two eye*, since he had sufficient medical knowledge. The blonde stared at two Rinnegan eyes. Konan then spoke up. "You know, I have knowledge in transplants."

The blonde Uzumaki looked at her, and at the eyes. Midnight was confused, before it took him a minute to realize what Konan was trying to hint at. Naruto sighed and looked at her determined. "Alright. Let's do it."

Konan nodded and asked for Naruto to lie down, while she asked Midnight for his assistance to help.
