Ideas on dealing with Arena?

Any suggestions on how to deal with it? My Main be in position 1 while the ninja they will have go first is in position 4 or 5. So shouldn't my Main attack first before them? Another thing is they say all is equal and the only thing that will take into account is our Initiative. But I don't think that's true. My opponent be dealing alot of damage but my ninjas don't. So I believe more than just initiative is in place.
