Matchmaking is based of arena BP (i think you should be around 25-26k arena power) and progression points.
Ninjas and server age aren't considered and this is good. Or you will get over 30 minutes queue before each match. Also consider that relatively new players could get both bee and hidan from events.

Just keep trying. In time you will learn to time your mysteries and abuse you opponent's weakness.
