No they were not.
Aside from that, even if they were not locked, it is still a bug that needs to be fixed. The locking I guess is just a good workaround for that.
However, could you please answer my question too?
If I recreate that problem and record it, can I get a compensation for my lost rune then?
Errr.. you could always use a green or blue to recreate it. Because what you are trying to prove is merge w/o confirmation notice, not that it happened on gold ones (if it can happen to ANY rune, it can happen to any OTHER rune)
You would lose nothing even if they don't comp you in that case. -
