I managed to win a few battles in the mess at the beginning of the new season and i'm 3/6 points through special jonin rank. When rewards come I will earn 4 ranking points, will those points get added to the 15 I currently have pushing me up to the next rank, so on and so forth until I ultimately hit six paths again and reset back to special jonin? the points i think will not be added(till you get to 6 p)
or you will be reset to zero and then they will be added
first option is more likely

From how I understand the interpret the wordings and ruling, that's my understanding as well, which is what you think might happen where the points get added on. So technically, if you don't do anything, you will eventually reach 6 Path. This is where many are going to stay in Super Kage by losing a few matches each month to save themselves the torture of the climb.
