I heard that he was really good at 3*, but he seems to be really underperforming. Its a shame because Naruto losing his * and getting carried by the ninetails were the best parts in the series. Anyone have advice on how to use him?

If I had him I would use him with Hashirama, and Iruka. As for what main, it's hard to say. I'm partial to fire mains but Naruto is a wind based ninja so maybe do wind main if they have a passive to boost his damage. Shields and boosts should be your priority.

Hashirama-Iruka-X

I don't have him at three stars so I haven't tested this but I do use Hashirama and Iruka with the third hokage. In this case naruto could potentially fill in even better.

A good lineup can be this:

Earth Main - Kaze Gaara - X
Killer Bee - X - Naruto
X - X- X
