Arena needs to match by BP, not by rank. And it needs to stop removing a point every time you lose. In an ideal implementation of the arena system players would be matched up with an opponent that results in a 50% win chance and 50% loss chance. Thus is makes no sense to remove points when players lose as they would be losing 50% of the time. It would make sense to remove points if it was a true ladder system and the ladder system was not tied to a rewards system and the ladder rank was just a rank and bragging rights and nothing more. But the ladder rank is tied to a rewards system and that is why making players lose points when they lose is bad game design.
The only people I get matched to in Arena now are people who kill half my team by round 2 while I maybe have shaved off about 5% of their total team hp. There is absolutely no way I can win any of these. This is completely unworkable, is a problem that the devs could have and should have expected to occur, and is one they could have and should have controlled for and fixed.
