Fact of the matter is that overall, the system is fairer. It was more unfair for some player of a server to get easy wins just because he is the top player of that server. Now, everyone in every server suffers equally with the chance of facing an opponent they can't beat. Sure, a 81 facing a 85 looks bad, but fact of the matter is that 85s can face others who have 10-20k power above them, that's just as bad.

What Xserver did is that instead of 1-3 top player of each server gets free, easy wins, now only top 1-10 player of each TIMEZONE get free easy wins, so the number of players with assured victory became significantly smaller. So now, the vast majority of players are in the realm of win some lose some, as they should be. Now your little 81 gets to feel what the 70s are feeling.

That said, if the "lowest leveled players" of your server, which I'd say probably in the mid 70s or high 60s if they are fairly active from the start of the server, are meeting only 80+, that is a problem. Granted, this might be due to the fact that below 80 pool is relatively small, since leveling in that range is fairly fast (only the 70s take any significant time), and with each new server garnering less and less player, to be honest the number of players below 80 is probably a far smaller % of the total player base than you might expect, as most active players have already passed the 80s mark. That said, they still shouldn't literally always get 80+, because however small the % population of sub-80 are, they exist. If what you say is true, I dare say there is an issue with match making, but I'd rather bet on you exaggerating.

On a side note, level isn't everything. We have a 64 in our server that can own most 70s, her power certainly matches some weaker low 80s. I, with my 40-41k pvp squads, have also lost to 82/83 whose team happen to counter mine (thou the fact that they are 32-35k power, way above what is expected of those level normally, and have ptw char probably plays a hand too. I suspect they are ptw player from newer servers). On the other hand, I have tore apart people with 5k power above me with no losses whatsoever as well as securing a difficult win against someone I think 8-9k power above me(I'm ftp, thou obviously have a number of rares being where I am). So really, level and power isn't everything.

  • Im not saying i dont like to fight people that are stronger. The problem here is that is not balanced at all. Or are you gonna tell me that is okey to get matched with someone 15k+ power higher than you? My first fight was against someone 10k+ higher than me. And a member of my group was trying to finish now and after losing 2 times, he (21k) still got matched with a 82 37k power, 15k+ power higher than him. Is this fair?
Well, I would agree that a smaller range of matchable difference would be preferable, thou then the question would be whether that is feasible. If it ends up causing more max-time-random-match where even bigger difference might happen, it might do more harm than good. Without knowing the code and the logs, I can't really say whether a change would be for better or worse.

But in concept, of course, ideally the range would be made smaller.

  • it's about testing, and tweaking, u cant theorize now, if OASIS hadnt even test it...
Hard brackets are never the solution, because it would just end up with people who are at the top/bottom of the brackets.
Batchwise dynamic range matching would be a better solution, but that's both difficult to explain and properly implement.
That said, I'm not entirely sure if Oasgames even have the ability to change the matchmaking mechanic... And if matchmaking really is bad, then CN players would have complained just as much, either affecting a change that we will see or... well... we aren't going to have anymore influence than them on a Chinese company.
