A few weeks back, the mods were talking about how he will no longer be obtainable due to legal reasons (never revealed how) thou those who have him can keep him. This might be the reason why it is being removed "somehow".
I don't have him and can't see him in my list either, I wonder if he is still there for people who have him.

Its actually doing the same for me, he doesn't come up for me at all either.

Now I am intrigued....do those of you who don't have him in their ninja list see him in the Sage Treasure Event? Cause I could even BUY him from there in this event (and did). I did however already have quite a few of his fragments prior to this Event, so maybe it's because of that?

Yes, he does show up for players who don't own him nor his fragments.
