There's plenty of counters to Midnight Blade's ability... you're acting like combos are the only important thing in the game. They're not. Midnight Blade gets shutdown easily by Wind players and healers if they're built correctly. You're just finding it hard to deal with relentless damage because you think this is a game of damage trading. Again, it's not.

Think of this game like a tactical card game or a boss fight in JRPG. The boss has some pretty OP moves that are easily countered if you think rationally about it. And if you don't... he wipes the floor with you.

I think you need to actually play a Lightning main to see the kind of crap they have to suffer through.

There's a reason they aren't exactly dominating the servers.

I only donate gold to the group. If you're wasting gold strengthening gear then don't.

Strengthening = 50k for 9 stat points per ninja = 200k for 9 stat points

Since my group stats are at level 20, it takes 60 contribution to raise them another level. 3000 gold per contribution point x 60 = 180,000 for 10 stat points to all ninjas.

It's cheaper to just donate to the group every day than it is to strengthen gear (for now).

Lol, yes, yes I have seen good lightning teams. As for Water main, we have a Six Paths player who crushes with water main. He's listed on the screenshots I keep putting up.

Lightning can't "counter" your abilities because Water is supposed to play last. You get combo disabled or silenced or any other type of control combo? Wait. No jutsu at the start of the turn, ever. Lightning player is almost always going to go first because of the ninja he picks.

Water player waits, Shizune or Kabuto or whoever is the offhealer activates, removes debuff from Water main. Water main now free to act removes debuffs from other members. NOW trigger your jutsu and watch how your combo goes off no problem because no one has paralysis anymore.

Again, it's not that lightning is OP, it's that noobs still don't understand how to play this game. It's just like a card game. Sometimes it's not cool to play a spell immediately when you know your opponent is going to counter it. You wait until he plays his other spells then reverse the damage and press the advantage. That's how Water main plays, it's not the combo dps class like people try to play it as.


Lightning players are about speed and single target damage. They will always go first, always be faster than you. So don't cast any jutsu at the start of the turn and get countered like an idiot. Just sit back, wait, and watch he does. Then decide how to respond.

  • honestly everyone will have different stories but pvp wise. 4 on 4 lightning blade is actually op. that simple. they need a rebalance. even a far worse lightning has an advantage over others. can you beat him? sure. but he has a slight handicap if all other things are equal. he can ignore puppet/clones and does debuff and aoe. its harsh man
Pick a class and I'll list the teams that wreck lightning. Fire has mirror support, silences, and sleep as a normal attack. Plus he can burn entire swathes if he goes aoe spec. Wind counters lightning hard and tends to act before the lightning player, hitting them for silly amounts of AOE damage that lightning players find to be death. Twice... because it repeat casts. Or they sport an AOE cleanse ability that can immediately remove that paralysis debuff from your entire team. Meanwhile Water is as I said above, reactionary and quite good at irritating Lightning if it's patient and methodical. Lightning can't be patient... it has to burst you down fast or it loses due to attrition. Meanwhile Earth... is so * rare that no one knows how to fight it. I have no insights here other than the extremely swift interrupt they have and the fact that they can be immune to all damage turn 1.

You realize that more than one class counters clones, right? In fact Lightning has the weakest AOE out of all of them. Fire, Wind, even Water have deadlier AOE attacks that wreck clones. Earth has an AOE attack... but it's too rare to find an earth player to test its effectiveness.

When people lose to Lightning is obvious... it's when they build pure dps combo teams and think they can outdamage the single target damage class.

Which is about as * as thinking your Mage can beat a Rogue in melee combat.

Never said using healing skill. Water has a passive healing ability that works wonders.

The big problem with dealing with the other classes is that they all counter Midnight Blade as well.

Earth is immune to damage, puts up shields, revives, interrupts, he's everything a DPS ninja hates. We want you to die and stay dead, preferably as soon as possible. Currently it's hard to see earth's effectiveness because there just aren't a lot of crazy Earth ninjas. But rest assured, the full Pain teams are coming. Mass buffing resistance/defense, mass shields, mass power increases, reflecting status effects, healers that cleanse twice per turn, Earth team will be invincible.

Water has the ability to heal like crazy, removing debuffs and restoring the damage we just did while potentially throwing sharks at us at the same time to trigger one of Water's famous ludicrous hit combos. To top it off they usually have healers with them because of synergy, making it all the harder to finish off anyone.

Wind is our mortal enemy. That AOE power will basically half-kill our entire team and completely kill one person due to a combo. This is because Lightning teams tend to run - you guessed it - Lightning ninjas. Which are extremely vulnerable to Naruto and Main spam. Plus the Wind main's jutsu fires TWICE, effectively spelling death for any team that doesn't have control for her. Defensively, what do we have to deal with? An army of clones.

Fire is just annoying on all kinds of levels. The easy access to burning damage is one thing. But a standard attack sleep, lowering defenses, multi-target AOE ignition, and a silence too? Lightning does not like status conditions, that's why we have powers that make our swordsmen immune to them. We depend on combos, damage, and some healing to survive because our main is made of tissue paper. To top it off, using our own status effects like the Paralysis or Acupuncture is likely to retaliate on us because of Mirror.

Oh and the best part... despite people saying they can't seem to interrupt a lightning main's chidori, Fire and Wind mains always seem to act before us. The combo already went off before the paralysis took effect.

This game isn't about combos, it's about health bars. Burning, AOE, and healing are extremely important aspects of managing health bars. Right now you just don't have ninjas fully upgraded so everyone seems kind of squishy and dies to burst combos. That won't last forever!

Not quite, I'm a writer of sorts. I'm frequently on forums discussing, debating, and writing guides for players. I've been through tons of MMOs (the pay kind) and always end up making huge *ysis reports of DPS, skill rotations, and optimal raiding builds along with PVP specs and strategies.

  • it seems we have a lot of lightning down players. i don't want to hear anything about wind having an advantage over lightning, because its already established and built into the game for that to be the case. even so the wind mains aoe range is limited to what it hits and one space over in each direction which means clones help buffer the damage done. that example shows a clear limitation to the ability lightning mains can literally hide from that special. lightning mains can bypass every defense in the game and get to the target while paralyzing to interrupt a turn and get a whole extra turn that usually leads into another full combo. where is the fairness?
Target the middle square. Now it hits all 9 squares.

Also, we can't bypass all defense. That attack goes after the lowest health target. Which is almost always a clone.

Lol, if it can't pass 2 characters, please explain why my entire team gets hit by it even when they are standing in 3-deep line formation.

Also, no the lightning attack doesn't bypass clones. It always attacks the clones first since they have the lowest health. Which is a waste of attacks. You deal with clones with AOE, not single target dmg.

The only thing Lightning is good at is Kyuubi because it's the single target class and can deal lots of damage to a boss. Just wait, pretty soon people will be higher level with better ninja and Lightning will be bottom tier again.

    im not here to complain or even say this class is super OP like the title of the thread. I'm simply pointing out something that needs to be patched because its slightly unfair. every class haves its weaknesses but to say its only good for kyuubi is a major downplay to the character.
I'm only asserting this because of two years of experience and it's the same way in China too. Midnight Blade is an underpowered joke later, you're only having a hard time with him now because you're playing on a lowbie server and no one understands the game yet. You also don't understand your own AOE has repulse and hits multiple targets in a row. I've died to it enough to know its AOE effect, I've come to hate Wind mains especially since they're FASTER than Lightning mains. Read the description for Giant Rasengan too, it hits the entire enemy team TWICE over 2 rounds.



Cause ninjutsu and taijutsu damage with to entire enemy team. Repelled enemy will suffer damage to its rear rank. Carry out 4 cooling rounds after 2 rounds of continuous application.

People complain about aggro or burn decks all the time in card games. A deck that does nothing but hit you for 5+ damage every turn? Sounds OP. But it's not OP in practice and gets shutdown relatively easily by experienced players and solid decks. It does however crush every newbie to the game who thinks their Elite strategy is top tier. Same concept and I've been playing card games since 1991.

You claim it's unfair, claim every class has weaknesses, but every class also has strengths. You want MB nerfed because of an apparent strength without fully realizing the strengths of your own class or the playstyle. Is the damage class going to outdamage you? YES. Paralysis is not the worst status effect either, by far that would be Ignition and Acupuncture. You're complaining that a class is using a counter to combo teams yet refuse to use anything except a combo team.

Likewise, there are counters to paralysis as well. A single Sakura cure undoes most of the damage and the paralysis, effectively making it a wasted attack/chakra with weak AOE dmg and allowing you to retaliate in force with something stronger. Mirror characters like Fire Main, Kurenai, and Kakashi reflect status conditions back on the enemy. Multiple healers remove debuffs from the people they heal, enabling their combos again, and there's even a Pain that wipes ALL debuffs from the team twice per turn. He'll be easily obtainable from the shops next update.

Again Paralysis is a temporary 1-turn combo disabler. It doesn't stop you from attacking like Immobile, it doesn't prevent you from casting like Acupuncture, it doesn't counter healing like Ignition. The only thing it stops are Chase skills. It's nowhere near as strong as Acupunctures multi-turn jutsu disabler or Ignition's prevention of healing PLUS unavoidable scaling bonus damage. Heck, wait till people get to chapter 8 and everyone's running Tsunade for Chaos and watch your team not only get to NOT attack and NOT chase and NOT use jutsu but also attack your own team, or wait till the Tayuya/Itachi teams start becoming popular and people are causing Sleeps with autoattacks every single turn. Because he too will be available in shops next update.

They don't stun the whole team, the team can still attack and use jutsu.

Wind can damage the whole team, Fire can Ignition the whole team, lots of characters can Poison the whole team.

If you think Paralysis on the whole team is OP then I strongly recommend you get Playboy Sasuke who is coming this week in the event. Even if they were to nerf Midnight Blade you'd still have Playboy Sasuke able to cause Paralysis to the entire enemy team.

Want to pretend you're a Midnight Blade? Get Sasuke. I assure you it won't make you win any more than you already do.

Earth is crazy strong as is, you're just not using the right ninja with it. Earth depends on rare ninja because the basics aren't suitable for its playstyle. The main already can't be comboed, there's not much else they need.

In short, they all DO have a fair chance. You're just at a stage in the game where Fire and Poison dominate because there aren't any good healers until Tsunade.

Lightning mains are actually one of the least variable mains because of their single target damage focus. They don't synergize with other team types well because they demand to be the star of the stage, the center of attention. You can't run a viable AOE spec because they lack it whereas Earth and Water ninja can put whatever damage dealers they want on the team and still fill the tank/support roles exceptionally. In fact, at high levels those roles matter more than the damage you're dealing with a single ninja. If you lose your tank or support then you're basically losing the match.

Right now at the low levels, every ninja is viable and good for team mixes and people think Chidori is the awesome and actual AOE... yet once we pop up to lvl 80, Chidori does pathetic damage compared to actual ninjutsu-based AOE nukers. It's purely a defensive move with damage that rapidly falls off due to slow growth scaling and stacked defenses. Meanwhile, your ninjas like Neji stop being "main tank viable" and start being that squishy guy who gets you killed. Stats matter more, actual tank ninja are required to fill the slot, and support ninja stop doing good damage. All except Karin/Shizune whose poison attack actually scales well.

Right now you might win a match from Shikamaru punching the opposition but later his ability to kick is going to be irrelevant. All your damage output will coming from the same 2 ninjas and even combo chains will become less lethal than they are now unless you're packing them with multiple DPS chasers or high stat ninjas. The game will evolve into a true JRPG where your healer hits for crap, your tank is virtually immortal, and your nuker is as squishy as a wizard. When that happens Midnight Blade is mostly irrelevant himself because damage only matters when the ninja actually DIES from it. Which leaves you with two mystery choices... Chidori for defensive paralysis against teams that will carry more and more condition clears, or Sealing for that acupuncture interrupt to cancel out the other team's ability to nuke you.

He's extremely ineffective compared to sleep attacks, mirror reflect, combo immunity, self-healing, clone spam, and all the real goodies that make these future prolonged matches more in your favor. A guy who just deals lots of damage? Completely nonessential and wholly ineffective next to the tactical condition spam and utility others offer.

Right now I'd rank mains like this:
1) Fire
2) Lightning
3) Wind
4) Water
5) Earth

But shortly it becomes:
1) Earth
2) Water
3) Wind
4) Fire
5) Lightning

Not because of any nerfs. Purely because as we level up, stats make our ninjas more role defined. Tanks become tankier, Healers become capable of actually saving a life and cleansing conditions, Damage dealers become death incarnate. As a result, utility outstrips DPS rather quickly. Early on stacking Guy with Iruka and Sasuke is considered OP. Later, such a team is easily destroyed and outlasted. Heck it's already happening at the highest levels.

  • Even at high levels Lightning is still pretty good with the Lightning clone acupuncture.
Water main clone can do the same thing. :'(
