I am currently level 29, and I put 100 stamina into doing 3 x the level 20 Uchiha bloodline, 3x the naruto joins the fight, 3x the sakura blooms one then the chunin examination practice one (down the bottom) but my XP didn't seem to budge at all :/ I tried the practice one again and still no change

The exp you gained is quite small. Did you take note of the exp gained (in numbers)?

The "large" exp you see is NINJA exp, which only helps the 3 ninja you have with your main at the time to level up, if they are not capped (cap is the level of your main char)
As far as the important character exp goes, it's only 1500 per instance sweep, a really tiny value in the grand scheme of things. In higher levels, it's mostly negligible, thou I'm not sure how much impact it will have at lv 29.
