Hey guys!
Did quick tests on Damage Reduction same as I tested Tai/Nin Pen with 1 fight vs 2700 damage reduction and 2nd with the enemy removing his damage reduction 8 gates which dropped him down to 1700, everything else was same in fights
I am here to share the results with you guys
Also thanks to Garv who helped me with the test by dueling him
2700 Damage Reduction
Enemy Stats
Crit: 2769, 2701, 2654, 2858, 2837, 2825, 2840, 2845, 2789, 2697, 2714, 2755, 2875, 2686, 2785, 2691, 2762, 2673,
Average: 49846 / 18 = 2769 damage
1700 Damage Reduction
Enemy Stats
Crit: 2874, 3097, 3084, 2908, 2906, 2987, 2933, 3119, 2968, 3104, 2867, 3017, 2870, 3126, 2982, 2931, 2921
Average: 50694 / 17 = 2982 damage
Conclusion:
With 2700 DR average was 2769
With 1700 DR average was 2982
2982 - 2769 = 213 difference
So the average difference between damage was around 7% with 1000 DR difference for this example, which is enough proof to say that Damage Reduction definitely works however it is not as good as it sounds (keep in mind all these damages in my test were critical damages)
About if you should be using it in 8 gates or so, that's up to you guys if you are using defensive teams it should be worth to use definitely, for myself I am more of a glass cannon type of player so I am ignoring it.
Also there were some theories running around that damage reduction doesn't work thru shields, but it actually does.
A friend of mine tested it and here it is
Thanks to Kagari for that
The test is conclusive only when both ninjas are "naked" (without any equipment, treasure tool or other forms of enhancement except of course the nin/tai p3netration and dmg reduction from eight inner gates). Moreover just the normal damage should be taken in consideration because the critical one is dependent on injury aswell.
Plus your basic stats as well as your oponent's ones counts too. As is always stated the difference between his damage reduction excess and your nin/tai p3n is going to his def/res. Unless you own let's say 20k attack and your oponent 10k defense don't expect spectacular results.
In my opinion those stats are working fine as Tencent confirmed and tested it out. No more tests are required.

we proved in the other thread that *ions right now in our patch do not work. very likely they get fixed in 5.0 (consider we have the same patch china had when their testers said they did not work).
That said, a difference in injury gives always the same outcome on a critical hit since grants a flat increase of the damage landed, and since he owned 10k more crit than me was safer to test it on crits (obviously since he had also a very high difference in injury once in a while appeared some x1.5 or some x2 damage hits, but we discarded all of them for the test and don't worry, if you do the test you see when they happen pretty well (because those 2900 once in a while were 5800s or 4400s )).
Excellent work ice.
This conclusively proves that damage reduction has an effect on damage received. It is also consistent with prior tests which estimated that damage reduction worked and was equivalent to roughly 1/3 of defense and resistance.
As it stands nin/tai pen DOES NOT WORK IN OUT VERSION , so damage reduction won’t be affected by it (the deviousness thread demonstrates this so it’s now factual).
Maybe in 5.0 nin/tai pen will be corrected but as of now those stats can be forgotten.
