im new to posting in the forums, usually i just read them, but im bored so i thought i would add a few notes and when i did i got a gold coin thing appear. ok cool, so what is the gold for, how can i spend it, and will it help in game? :)

The gold coins you get on the forum have no use, in-game, or on the forums as far as I know.
