Summary: A continuing story of the 5 Naruto Online Mains in a slightly different universe than the actual Naruto. After Scarlet's victory, Azure is matched against the strongest enemy possible...
***The settings have been slightly shifted from the Naruto universe to match the story. They'll be explained as the story progresses, but don't be surprised if you suddenly find someone that was alive dead, or someone dead alive. =D
Note: I'm using character titles for the names temporarily (Midnight Azure Scarlet Breeze Crimson), but definitely willing to decide on an actual name. Comment below if you've got any name suggestions!
Note 2: Rated it as T because I plan on writing some material that should definitely be rated like that. However, not all of them are necessarily T.
Final Exam (4): Worst Matchup
As Scarlet walked up, he thought of how lucky he was that he was paired against Sai. Scarlet had been su*ious of Sai ever since their encounter in the Forest of Death, and did quite a bit of research during the past month but found absolutely nothing regarding the particular Genin. The last fight had given him a slight clue of who Sai was; a ‘nobody’.
Crimson was the first to greet Scarlet as he arrived, patting him on the back. “I knew you could do it, you cheap ass...” Scarlet laughed, knowing it was the undeniable truth. Azure tapped Scarlet on the back with a half forced smile. “Hehe, good job out there!…Wish me luck.”
Azure’s anxiety grew as she was against the worst possible opponent. Midnight wordlessly got up and jumped off the railing instead of using the stairs, landing rather softly as he walked in front of Shikamaru. Scarlet tried to smile, but his worry had overridden it. “…Surrender if you have to, Azure.”
Azure nodded before heading down the stairs, walking over to where Shikamaru and Midnight was standing. The crowd was much quieter than the previous battle as they had heard rumours about the sword-wielding Genin that had almost wiped out all the other Genins single handedly during the 2nd exam - Midnight Blade.
Azure stood trying to face Midnight, who was giving Azure a half dead stare as if he wasn’t worried at all. She desperately tried to ignore the crowd whispering behind her back, all agreeing that the battle was quite pointless.
Shikamaru raised his hands again, waiting for the crowd to settle down. He lowered his land as he vanished once more. “Azure Fang versus Midnight Blade…begin.”
Final Exam (5): Overconfident
Midnight and Azure drew their blades, holding it firmly as Midnight pointed the edge towards Azure from a few metres away. Azure held her breath, preparing for whatever attack that would come next. Whether she wins or not, she would at least do something before she was beaten.
As the winds blew briefly, Midnight dashed towards Azure, his blade slicing straight through the air. Azure moved to the side but couldn’t react fast enough as the blade slashed through her side slightly. She slashed at Midnight with her own sword, but Midnight lifted his blade slightly, blocking the attack with the hilt of his sword.
Azure gritted her teeth as she backed off, but Midnight followed, *ing close beside. He rapidly slashed at her sides without leaving a fatal wound, only damaging Azure. Azure failed blocking all of them, and soon, her clothes were tattered as cuts covered her body; Midnight smashed the hilt of the sword straight into Azure’s stomach, knocking her far back into the wall.
“Give up.” Midnight pointed the edge of his blade at Azure again. Azure barely stood back up, leaning against the wall as she ignored him, desperately making her hand signs. “Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!”
The dragon launched itself at Midnight as Midnight waved his blade. “Lightning Armor.” Lightning and chakra erupted from Midnight’s body as he was once more in a blue cloak; the water dragon crashed straight into him in that state, but the water evaporated away before reaching through the armor.
As the dragon dissappeared, Midnight’s cloak suddenly sizzled away, dissappearing. Midnight also noticed slight pain in his shoulders as he looked over. Azure’s knife was stuck there, with a tint of purple over the blade. “…How did-?”
Azure smiled as she pointed at Midnight, *ing out her tongue. “Should’ve dodged it instead, *! That poison disables chakra that comes in contact. It goes straight through your armor!”
Midnight pulled out the poisoned knife, tossing it behind him. “Yeah, figures. No wonder I can’t use my jutsus right now. However…” Midnight dashed at Azure, smashing the hilt into her stomach much deeper than last time. “You still can’t win.”
Azure coughed blood onto the ground as Midnight’s sword smashed her against the wall. She tried to grip the hilt as well, but soon lowered her hands as she lost consciousness, collapsing as Midnight withdrew his sword.
Author's Note: Midterm week *s Q_Q I might be posting a bit late, maybe one in two or three days this week...or maybe just next week...but I'll try to write as much as possible.
