I cannot get the sound to turn off in V3.4.4.0 mini-client.

How do I get the sound to turn off after every login after disabling it using the client gear icon not the in-game gear icon? The only client that works is when I do this is V3.3.0.0 or lower, but what if I want to use the latest client?
