What are your thoughts about the two?Yay or Nay?Prefer one over the other?
Hello everyone, I would like to open a new topic: Byakugan vs Sharingan.Both are inherited from the Otsutsuki Clan.
Both are one of the three great eye techniques.
Highlight over to see spoilers, because i couldn't set spoiler tags :(
Byakugan
- available through birth, or can be awakened (can be transplanted, but only using a main member's eyes, as seen from The Last movie)
- 360º view, but with a blindspot weakness
- range can be improved
- ability to see/identify chakra (and in anime, allows Kaguya to see feelings)
- determines the use of genjutsu
- in anime, can be used to extend range of genjutsu
- pro-long use causes temporary strain
- in movie (The Last), may evolve to Tenseigan, if combined with Otsutsuki clan chakra
Sharingan
- awakened, with different stages of tomoe
- abilities available at earlier stage, could be developed through training
- can be transplanted
- eyes from same user have a link
- ability to see/indentify chakra, although not as capable as the Byakugan
- granted clarity of perception
- ability to copy/memorize jutsu
- may evolve to Mangekyo Sharingan or Rinnengan by mixing Asura and Indra's chakra (Naruto ch. 671, p 6)

Correct me if I'm mistaken but I think any byakugan can be transplanted regardless of the family.(ex :- Ao)

When you consider the power(jutsu & abilities) it grants to the owner and the versatile nature, Sharingan is on another level. Tenseigan is the most powerful thing that was created with Byakugan.
Sharingans have a better designs too especially MS & EMS and they are unique.
But the sharingan comes with the curse of hatred while the byakugan has no such thing.
I like them both.Although they are both dojutsu, they have different uses.

Yes you are correct, sorry for the confusion, but what i meant was that the donor should be from the main family (Since the curse seals on all branch members prohibit their byakugan from falling in the wrong hands). The recipient could be anyone (regardless of family).

- Byakugan. Ultimate spy no jutsu, and it looks cooler. Also, that highlight-over trick is genius, man.
ever wonder, if there's been a Hyuga born with a different grade of eyes? (like you know, something that would make them wear glasses for the rest of their lives) haha, just a thought.
anyway, thank you. I was cautious about some stuff, since some players might've not finished reading/watching the anime xD -

Not in canon, probably, but if there's a "really good Byakugan" like Neji's there has to have been a "really bad Byakugan"...? Probably due to inbreeding XD -

Sharingan has the curse too, but yes, Byakugan has a blindspot.
Although do remember, Orochimaru wanted Sasuke because he couldn't have Itachi. -
